1982. We have dedicated ourselves to the preservation of
traditional craftsmanship.
We are the distributors for a number of other companies
whose collections blend perfectly with our own, including a
number of America’s top design firms, such as Maya Romanoff
Inc.’s wallcoverings, an incredibly innovative range of
wonderful scope - contemporary and classical designs with
rich textures and depth. Also Innovations In Wallcoverings
company’s a ground breaking and technically innovative
wallcoverings company. We also distribute, Brentano Fabrics
one of the leading contract fabric houses in the world with
a sophisticated colour palette and design repertoire, and
Chella Textiles, whose solution dyed acrylic fabrics are at
the cutting edge of all environment and outside fabric
design.
Altfield is also one of the leading dealers in Chinese
antique furniture, and since 1982 has specialised in 18th
&19th Century Ming style country furniture from China’s
regions and indeed were the first to recognise the potential
of this previously unfashionable genre. We have an
unrivalled network of contacts in China as one would expect
after over 25 years of business in the field. All our
furniture is refinished and restored by our European trained
craftsmen.
 Our
wide experience of China from being over 4 generations in
China and the Far East has lead us to deep understanding of
the art and crafts of the region. This is reflected in our
personal love of, and empathy with the Chinoiserie and China
Trade styles, evident in our various collections. However in
addition, we also produce accessories in other styles,
contemporary and classical, but being sure to maintain both
quality and the aesthetics of the design.
Our trade showroom at the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre has
selections of our collections on display and is open during
normal business hours Monday to Friday 9am to 5.30pm – other
