Hand Painted Artwork - Altfield produces in its own studios a number of different artwork genre’s Japanese Screens, Chinoiserie Wallpaper panels and China Trade art. All items are free drawn and hand painted. Japanese screens - The group of screens collected together in our collection displays a wide variety of themes and includes work representative of most of the major schools of Japanese art, with an emphasis on 17th Century designs. Chinoiserie Wallpaper Panels - These wallpaper panels are copies of original pieces of China Trade wallpapers that were popular in the 18th and 19th Centuries. This style of artwork is neither truly Chinese, nor European but takes elements from both. The panels are handpainted and free drawn on hand-made paper China Trade Art - Inspired by the artwork painted in the 18th and 19th Centuries by artists fulfilling the demand of Europe and America for images of the exotic East. This China Trade artwork and its European derivative Chinoiserie provides much of the basis for our artwork collections. We also produce hand painted European subject matter such as tulips and botanical studies
